Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 25, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Dear Carousel ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website and services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the terms described below.

Information we collect

  • Account information. When you sign up we collect your email address and, depending on the sign-in method you choose, your name and profile picture.
  • Content you upload. Photos, captions, and any text you add to a carousel are stored so we can render the carousel for you and anyone you share it with.
  • Payment information. Purchases are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card details on our servers — Stripe provides us with a transaction reference and a limited billing summary (such as the last four digits of your card and country).
  • Usage data. We collect basic technical information — IP address, browser type, device type, and pages visited — to keep the Service secure and to understand how it is used. This is collected through PostHog, a privacy-focused analytics tool. We do not use cookies or browser storage for analytics, so events are not linked across visits unless you are signed in.

How we use your information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • To render and share the carousels you create.
  • To process purchases and send transactional emails.
  • To prevent fraud and abuse, and to comply with legal obligations.

Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers we rely on to run Dear Carousel:

  • Stripe — payment processing.
  • Amazon Web Services (S3) — storage of the photos you upload.
  • Authentication providers — if you sign in with a third-party provider (such as Google), that provider supplies us with the account information described above.
  • PostHog — product analytics. We send anonymous page views and product events (such as “a carousel was created”) so we can understand how the Service is used. When you are signed in, these events are associated with your user ID and email so we can debug issues tied to your account. We do not use PostHog for advertising, and we have configured it not to record sessions or store identifiers on your device.

We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Dear Carousel, our users, or others.

Sharing carousels

Carousels are private by default. A carousel is only viewable by people who have the link you choose to share. Links are unguessable, but anyone you share a link with can forward it to others — so treat your share link like you would any other private link.

Data retention

We keep your account and carousel content for as long as your account is active. You can delete a carousel or your account at any time; when you do, the associated photos and data are removed from our systems within 30 days, except where we are required to keep records for legal or accounting reasons.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@dearcarousel.com.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information in transit and at rest. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to respond quickly if anything goes wrong.

Children

Dear Carousel is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email or through the Service.
